What I thought was just a broken cable turned out to be more than that. Damon who was the tech that came out was courteous and professional first inspected the broken cable and explained what causes them to fray. He checked the other side and informed me they were also starting to fray and it would have been in my best interest while he was there to do both sides before I could even ask him if I should have both sides done. He also checked the rollers and informed me they were starting to chip. He then discovered that the gears in the opener itself were stripped. He gave me the option of either replacing the opener or just replacing the cables and operating the door manually with no pressure to replace.
